Hamilton Terrace, London NW8

Part of the St John’s Wood Conservation Area, our design for this house protected the classic street frontage. An enlarged lower ground floor provides family living spaces while the interior reflects the clean lines of the historic outer façade. Following its strong formal lines, we aligned the glass extension to the outer edges of the nineteenth century property, accentuating its original shape. The extension is punctuated with large doors, allowing light to surge into the now spacious lower ground floor living area.

The rear elevation incorporates a strong, cubic form.

The new lower ground floor extension allows for maximum light penetration.

The street elevation maintains a formal classical façade.
